New York City Haiku

Young panhandler with sign
"Spare some change for pot and beer?"
At least he's honest.

Baby shoe in the street
by creepy St. Ignatius Church
Too many pigeons.

Cross only on "walk"
At 17th, Union Square
Cars will run you down.

So good to know some things remain constant. Even away from it, it's still the City I love....magic, the bizarre, and chaos existing side by side. Now immortalized in your terrific haiku.

I actually cheated a bit on the serious haiku rules - but it's an enjoyable discipline for me, so I think I'll make it a regular feature. With the warmer weather, I'll be out and about on the streets more.
