Fresh Hell - Premier Reader Study

I will confess to needing a prop or two here - when I write a post I spend a great deal of time futzing about finding a suitable photograph to illustrate my thoughts.

Sometimes an idea for the illustration and concimittant photo comes instantly - at other times it takes me a very long while to find a visual expression that conveys my true thoughts.

Yet I'm always quite and curiously satisfied by the photo I've chosen.

Reader Survey - do you guys get it?

P.S. Not for nothing but I have a huge weakness for Ancient and European statuary...

I will not share my secrets as to where my photos originate (but yes, i think it's the muses).

The question you skillfully ignored is whether any of the photos accompanying the posts mean anything.

Ignore at your peril, Stoic!

Considering your writings on women, I rather enjoyed your selection of this photo. It might specifically be of the muses, whether Greco or Roman, but we'd have to consider the 'pedestal' as well as the damage done to this depiction of the female form as specific commentary on the condition of women. All humans are abused by time, but women and the concept of women are abused by much more than the elements - and often women are their own worst enemies.

Ah, Stoic - you've made me laugh. I wouldn't mind a shunt in a vein for coffee.

And Milliana, sorry but I have to side with Stoic and his resentment. Numerous times in the past, I've scanned the post and then referred back to the picture and wondered what correlation you were making...especially since I'm not one who thinks one picture is worth a thousand words. It isn't!

It might sound harsh, but if you can't say what you mean with words, perhaps you shouldn't say it at all.

Harumph. My tender authorial skin has been pierced. That's the LAST reader survey I'll put all two of you through again!

But bwah. I get a huge kick out of the photos, and for some odd reason don't think a post complete without one, so I'll continue including them.

I agree that sometimes there isn't a clear correlation between the content of the post without knowing the contents of my brain. Oh well, c'est la vie!

thanks ilonas - I was probably fishing for compliements with this reader survey - I chuckle sometimes when I select a photo that seems to me to encompass the tone of the post without being blindingly obvious.
